Chat automation is priced by how much the agent does, and the simplest honest measure is the number of replies it writes. One AI reply credit is consumed each time the agent generates a message in a conversation, on web chat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Slack, email or SMS. Replies your team writes by hand do not use credits, and neither do template broadcasts, which are counted separately as WhatsApp sends.
Allowances on Botcadence plans. Free includes 100 credits a month, Starter 600, Growth 2,000 and Business 6,000; Voice AI includes 600 with its chat channels. When an allowance runs out, a pack of 750 extra credits costs $19, and the agent keeps answering.
Estimating what you need. Count last month's inbound chats and multiply by the average number of agent replies per conversation (two to four is typical for support and booking). A store with 600 chats a month at three replies each needs about 1,800 credits, which fits Growth.
What does not count. Human replies, WhatsApp template broadcasts (metered as sends), voice minutes (metered separately on the Voice AI plan) and system notifications.
Why credits rather than seats. Seat pricing penalises adding people to the inbox; per-resolution pricing penalises automation that works.
