AnswerForce Alternatives for Restoration and HVAC Companies (2026)
AnswerForce is a live answering service with restoration scripts, English and Spanish receptionists and an RIA member discount. It bills by the minute, rounded up, so the bill rises with every storm. Here is what it costs, when to stay, and nine alternatives by situation, with prices checked on each vendor's own page on October 23, 2026.
Best AnswerForce alternative: quick answer
The best AnswerForce alternative depends on whether you want a person or an AI on the phone. For AI intake with on-call escalation on a flat plan, Botcadence's restoration answering service is $299 a month for 1,500 minutes. Sevby is a restoration-only AI at $299 flat, Smith.ai bills per call, and PATLive, AnswerConnect and MAP Communications bill per minute like AnswerForce.
We make Botcadence and have put ourselves first. Every price below comes from the vendor's own page, checked on October 23, 2026, and the services that cost less than us at some volumes say so. Competitor details last verified October 2026. Vendors change plans and features; if something here is out of date, tell us at connect@botcadence.com and we will correct it.

Be honest first
When to stay with AnswerForce
AnswerForce is a good service for the restoration companies it fits. Stay if these matter more than the bill:
- You want a person on every call. AnswerForce pledges to use real people, and its receptionists work from your script 24/7. No AI agent replaces that if that is what you want.
- You are an RIA member. The Restoration Industry Association named AnswerForce an affinity partner in April 2025, with a 6% discount on plan minutes for members.
- You rely on its integrations. AnswerForce lists ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, Workiz, Encircle and Zapier on its site, and Xcelerate's site describes an AnswerForce integration that creates a master job from the call. Botcadence has none of those restoration-software connections; it writes leads to JobNimbus and sends records through Zapier or webhooks.
- Storm surges are your main worry. AnswerForce says its receptionists are spread across the US, with overflow in Canada and the UK, so calls can be routed away from areas a storm hits.
- Your volume is low and steady. If you rarely pass your plan's minutes, the per-minute model costs less than it looks.
If the bill in storm months, the billing increments or the on-call alert are the problem, the options below are worth a test.
Why owners look
What AnswerForce costs in 2026
From AnswerForce's plans page, checked October 23, 2026:
| Plan | Monthly price | Included | Extra minutes | Setup |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intro | $349 | 200 minutes | $2.00 a minute or chat | $75 |
| Best value | $389 | 300 minutes | $1.85 a minute or chat | None |
| Growth | $669 | 500 minutes | $1.85 a minute or chat | None |
How the minutes are counted: every interaction is billed per minute and rounded up to the nearest minute, and the first 30 interactions under 30 seconds each billing cycle are free. After-hours, weekend and holiday answering are included at no extra charge, as are live chat, outbound calls, a business phone line and the mobile app.
What that means for a restoration shop: in the model from our restoration answering service cost guide, 150 four-minute calls a month come to about $993 on the $669 plan, because each call rounds up and the overage is $1.85 a minute. A storm month with 450 calls comes to about $3,490. AI plans in the same model ran $79 to $299 at 150 calls and stayed under $1,000 in the storm month.

The options
1. Botcadence: AI intake with on-call escalation
Botcadence's restoration answering service is an AI voice agent that answers your forwarded line after hours, on overflow or 24/7, up to your account's concurrent-call limit.
- On each call: safety first (anyone unsafe is told to hang up and dial 911), then active or stopped, callback number, address, water source, what is wet, who can authorize work and insurance, in English or Spanish.
- Active losses: starts your on-call escalation, which texts and calls your technicians and backups until someone replies.
- Contained losses: books an inspection into Google Calendar.
- Pricing: $299 a month for 1,500 minutes, then $35 per 200 minutes; setup in about 5 business days; you keep your number.
Choose it if your bill spikes in storm months and you want the same intake on every call. Skip it if you want a person on every call or need calls written straight into Xcelerate or Encircle. See the AI receptionist for restoration for the fields it captures.
2. Sevby: restoration-only AI at one flat price
Sevby builds AI answering for restoration companies only, at $299 a month on one plan, with no long-term commitment and setup by forwarding your line in about a day. Its pricing page describes calls as unlimited with no per-lead fees. Choose it if you want a restoration-only vendor and a bill that never moves. Skip it if you also need chat, SMS or WhatsApp answered by the same agent, and test its Spanish and on-call alert before you rely on them.
3. Smith.ai: live or AI receptionists billed per call
Smith.ai sells live receptionists from $300 a month for 30 calls ($11.50 per extra call) and an AI receptionist from $150 for 75 calls ($2.50 per extra call). Its live plans don't charge for spam or sales calls when caller ID comes through. Per-call pricing makes long intake calls cheaper than per-minute plans, but every short call counts. Choose it if you want people on the phone and your calls are long. Skip it if your volume swings a lot with storms. See Botcadence vs Smith.ai.
4. PATLive: per-minute live answering without write-up time
PATLive is a US live answering service with pay-as-you-go pricing from $49 a month plus $2.99 a minute, or bundles such as $349 for 200 minutes. It says it doesn't bill after-call work and doesn't use AI to answer calls. Choose it if you want live people and a clear minute count. Skip it if storm-month overage is what you are trying to escape.
5. AnswerConnect: the closest like-for-like swap
AnswerConnect's entry plan is $350 a month for 200 minutes, with $2.50 per extra minute ($1.85 on bigger plans) and a $49.99 setup fee on some plans. Calls over 30 seconds are rounded up to the minute, and after-call work is billed. Choose it if you want to stay with live 24/7 answering and mainly want a different team. Skip it if price is the reason you're leaving AnswerForce.
6. MAP Communications: the lowest live per-minute rate
MAP Communications charges $49 a month plus $1.37 a minute, or $339 for 250 minutes, with rates down to $1.28 a minute. Read the terms: calls are rounded up, after-call work counts, there is a 2.4-cent fee per call, and a holiday fee applies on seven major holidays. Choose it if you want the lowest per-minute live rate. Skip it if you want a simple bill.
7. Ruby: a small daytime receptionist
Ruby's live receptionists start at $250 a month for 50 minutes, with larger plans of 100, 200 and 500 minutes. Its FAQ describes 60-second increments, and hold time and after-call work are billed. Choose it if you want a friendly human first contact for a modest daytime volume. Skip it if most of your calls are long after-hours emergency intakes.
8. Rosie: low-cost AI answering in English and Spanish
Rosie's AI answering starts at $49 a month for 250 minutes, with $149 for 1,000 minutes and $299 for 2,000. English and Spanish are on every plan, and the larger plans add calendar booking, warm transfers and texting during calls. Calls round up to the next minute. Choose it if you want the lowest per-minute AI price. Skip it if you need an on-call alert that repeats until someone replies; test that first.
9. Goodcall: cheapest AI at low volume
Goodcall prices by unique caller rather than minutes: $79 a month for 100 unique callers, with 79 cents per extra caller, and larger plans at $129 and $299. Spam and wrong numbers aren't counted. Choose it if you get few calls and want the smallest bill. Skip it if a storm brings hundreds of new callers in a week.

How to test an alternative without risking a 2 am call
- Price your busiest month, not your average one, on every shortlisted service.
- Give each service the same script. Our free water damage intake call script and storm damage intake call script set out the questions in order, with Spanish versions.
- Run the new service on after-hours calls for a week while AnswerForce keeps daytime overflow.
- Test-call both at 2 am with a burst pipe, a sewage backup and a Spanish caller. Check what reached your phone, how fast, and whether your on-call tech was woken.
- Switch forwarding with your carrier or phone system; our call forwarding guide has the codes for T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, landlines and business phone systems.

How we put this list together
We looked at the services restoration and HVAC owners compare with AnswerForce, and assessed each on who answers, the published price, how minutes or calls are counted, what raises the bill in a storm month and fit by situation. Prices come from each vendor's own pricing page on October 23, 2026, and the cost model is the one in our restoration answering service cost guide. We did not place test calls to each service for this page, so run your own before you decide.
Why Switch
Why Restoration Companies Compare AnswerForce With Alternatives
Storm Months Cost More
AnswerForce plans include 200 to 500 minutes, then $1.85 to $2.00 a minute. In our model, a restoration shop on the $669 plan pays about $993 at 150 calls and about $3,490 in a storm month with three times the calls.
Calls Round Up to the Minute
AnswerForce bills each interaction per minute, rounded up, after the first 30 interactions under 30 seconds each cycle. Botcadence bills a 15-second first step, then 30-second steps.
An On-Call Alert That Repeats
Botcadence's on-call escalation texts and calls your on-call list and repeats on the schedule you set, by default three times five minutes apart, until someone replies.
The Same Intake on Every Call
An AI agent asks the same safety-first questions in the same order at 2 am as at 2 pm: hazards, active or stopped, callback number, address, source, what is wet, who can authorize and insurance.
English and Spanish on One Line
Both AnswerForce and Botcadence answer in English and Spanish. On Botcadence the same agent and intake order run in both languages on the same plan.
Chat and Messaging on the Same Plan
The Voice AI plan also covers website chat, SMS, WhatsApp and Instagram with the same agent, so a homeowner who texts gets the same intake as one who calls.

AnswerForce Alternatives: Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on what you want on the phone. For an AI agent with safety-first intake and on-call escalation on a flat monthly plan, Botcadence; for a restoration-only AI at a flat $299, Sevby; for live receptionists billed per call, Smith.ai; for live receptionists billed per minute, PATLive, AnswerConnect or MAP Communications; for the lowest AI price at low volume, Goodcall or Rosie.
On AnswerForce's plans page, checked October 23, 2026: $349 a month for 200 minutes plus a $75 setup fee, with extra minutes at $2; $389 for 300 minutes and $669 for 500 minutes, with extra minutes at $1.85 and no setup fee. Calls are rounded up to the nearest minute, and the first 30 interactions under 30 seconds each billing cycle are free.
No. AnswerForce says after-hours, weekend and holiday answering is included in all plans at no extra charge. The cost comes from the minutes those calls use.
Yes. AnswerForce says all plans include bilingual answering in English and Spanish. Botcadence, Rosie and Smith.ai also answer in Spanish, so compare the intake in both languages with a test call.
Yes. The Restoration Industry Association announced AnswerForce as an affinity partner in April 2025, with a 6% discount on plan minutes for RIA members.
Usually, at restoration call volumes. In our model of 150 four-minute calls a month, AnswerForce came to about $993 and AI plans to $79 to $299. AI plans differ in how they handle emergencies, so test the intake and the on-call alert, not just the price.
Not directly. Botcadence has no Xcelerate, DASH or Encircle integration; it writes leads to JobNimbus natively and can send call records through Zapier or webhooks where your software accepts them. If a direct Xcelerate job from every call matters most, AnswerForce's listed integration is a reason to stay.
Set up the new service with your script and on-call contacts, run both for a week with after-hours calls on the new one, then change your call forwarding and give AnswerForce notice under its Terms of Service. Our call forwarding guide has the carrier codes.
